~The Star Festival ~

In Japan, on July 7th, we hold the Star Festival. It is called “TANABATA” in Japanese. The origin came from China a long time ago. In this festival, people make a lot of oblong cards. We write our desire on the cards. I think the Star Festival is an important event because we can wish our special people for health and a good life. Then, we decorate bamboo grass with these oblong cards and a lot of ornament shaped stars. It is said that our desire will come true if people float the bamboo grass to the river.

★The Story of the Orihime and Hikoboshi★



The Star Festival has a special story. In the old day, a woman called Vega lived near the Milky Way. When she became an adult, her father made her marry a man. His name is Altair. However, once they married, they became lazy. They did not work and did nothing so the god got angry. He decided to divide them by the Milky Way. Vega was so sad because she could not see Altair anymore and she had cried every day since that day. Therefore, the god felt sorry for her and he permitted her to see Altair only once a year, on July 7th, the Star Festival day. In Japan, there is a famous star festival, Sendai Star Festival. It is a big festival and it is included in the three big festivals in the northeast district.

I like Potato's blog the best. Because it is easy to look and understand. I think she researched things in detail. She uses a lot of easy words. So I can read her paragraph. Especially I was interested in Gion Festival. I researched Gion Festival too. But she had some information which I did not kow. I like her layout as well. The color of words matchs her blog.

I like strV's blog. Because the content of her paragraph is very interesting. I like her pictures. I was very interested in her paragraph about New Zealand. I was very surprised that there are eight times as many sheep as population. But there is one problem. The number of sheep has been decreaseing. So I want to know about New Zealand.

~Sports of New Zealand~

New Zealand is famous for sky sports. In New Zealand, we can enjoy a lot of kinds of sky sports everywhere. For example, glider, hot-air balloon, bungee jumping and skydiving.

★Bungee Jumping★




It is said that the beginning of bungee jumping comes from Vanuatu in southern Pacific.
In Vanuatu, bungee jumping was performed to celebrate becoming adult. It was a dangerous ceremony. And bungee jumping was started to play as one of the sky sports for the first time in 1980s. It was started by A.J. Hackett Bungy. He is also a famous person who jumped from the Eiffel Tower. And now, bungee jumping became a famous sky sports of New Zealand. A lot of people come to New Zealand to try bungee jumping. In New Zealand, there are a lot of places to do bungee jumping.

★Skydiving★




Skydiving is also a famous sky sports in New Zealand. It looks a little dangerous. However, in fact, it is a safe sports. Because when you skydive the instructor who has an official qualification helps you. You can see and enjoy beautiful scenery such as a beautiful mountain, a long deep river, shining snow and a lot of things! New Zealand has a lot of kind of rare landforms. For example, a crater lake, a land heat area and a volcano. If you try skydiving you can see these great scenery from the sky!

I think that New Zealand makes the most of nature. This country still has a rich natural environment such as big mountains, long rivers, wide grassland, volcano and glaciers. If people come to New Zealand they will be relaxed because of rich nature. People can enjoy their staying. If you go to New Zealand let's try sky sports!

~Festival~

★Jidai Festival in Kyoto★



I am interested in Jidai Festival in Kyoto. So I will explain this festival. This festival is one of a historical and traditional festival in Kyoto. It is very famous one. It has started since 1896. When this festival started, Japan is in the Meiji period. In other words, it has been continued for about 102 years. Jidai festival takes place to celebrate the constriction of the Heian Shrine. It is held on October 22nd every year. To be an exciting festival, pepole wear a lot of kinds of traditional costumes and parade to the Heian Shrine. This parade is divided into seven different periods. Each group of period wears each traditional costume. The length of this parade is about 2 kilometer. Therefore it takes three or four hours for all pepole to arrive at the Heian Shrine. The participants in the parade is about two thousand pepole. I have never seen this festival. So I want to see this some day.

~Movies~

I like watching movies. Since we can watch them in a huge screen and loud sound, I like going to a movie theater. I saw two movies in this summer vacation. One is “Detroit Metal City” and the other is “What Happens in Vegas”. Both are very funny.

★Detroit Metal City★

I explain “Detroit Metal City”. This is a Japanese movie. The original of this movie is comic. This comic is very popular. So this movie was really expected among a lot of the comic fans. The leading actor is Kenichi Matsuyama. This story starts one man who wants to be a singer. His mane is Negishi. He likes playing the guitar and has a dream to be a musician of pop music. He sings a song at a street every day. However he cannot be a professional pop singer. It is so hard for him. One day he is offered by a music producer. He is very happy his dream comes true. However the songs he has to sing is not pop music. It is HEAVY METAL music! He cannot be a pop music singer. He makes up his face like a white face and wears a black clothe and sings heavy metal songs! He becomes a HEAVY METAL musician! I think this story is not realistic. However everyone has their conflict. This main character also has his conflict because he really wants to be a pop musician. This movie tells us the importance not to give up. I recommend this movie.

★What Happens in Vegas★

This movie is very interesting. This story starts one woman who was turned down by her boyfriend and one man who was fired by his father. They meets each other in Vegas. They get drink a lot and they get married in spite of not knowing each other well. So they are forced to live together because they became couple. However they get to like each other. Finally they become real couple. This leading actress is Cameron Diaz. She is one of a famous actress in the USA. I think this story will not happen in the real world. I think that living with someone is little hard for me. Because we must be attentive to each other. So I will be tierd. However this love story is wonderful because they accept themselves including good things and bad things. This movie tells us the importance to accept someone who we do not know.
